What is the World Festival Network?
The WFN is an online network bringing together festivals across the globe and all who are involved in them. It’s the nerve centre of all things festival, the first port of call for information, from what’s on, who’s who, how to, what’s it about and more.
What does it do?
As well as being an online network it offers consultancy and advice to new festivals. It holds important legal information and updates, information on courses, networking events and socials.
Soon it will hold info on tour routes and award schemes to get performers from one festival to the next. It acts as a liaison between festivals and implements cross-festival ideas and relations, such as award schemes, tours and funding opportunities.
The Idea
Holly has travelled around the world since 2001 speaking to festivals and performers gauging what they need and how their success could be supported. The WFN has grown out of an obvious desire for performers to tour in order to develop their careers and reputation. Festival management need to share ideas, keep in touch and support each other. Audience development is an important part of the World Festival Network keeping ticket buyers up to date with what’s on where they are. It is apparent that its not just Fringe Festivals who are interested in the WFN’s developments, but all genres of festival, and the performers, the audiences, the media and suppliers have all expressed an interest and have thought it a resource that is needed and one which they would use.

I’ve worked in the festival business since 2001 setting up and managing the Brighton Fringe, working as a Venue Director and in the senior management team of Edinburgh Fringe.
I have travelled the world meeting festival managers and giving support to new Fringe Festivals in the UK, USA and Europe. I am on the executive committee of BAFA, on the Brighton Fringe Board of Directors, Steering committee of Oxford Fringe, advisory committee of Hollywood and O'ahu Fringes and a member of IFEA, BAFA and have strong links with CAFF.
